Root Canal
A “root canal” is defined as a natural cavity within the center of the tooth. The root canal has a soft pulp chamber and your tooth’s nerve lies within the canal. Our Belleville Dentist performs a root canal procedure to save a tooth that is badly decayed by removing the pulp and nerve, the tooth is then cleaned and sealed. Without treatment infection and abscesses can form on the tissues surrounding the tooth. In you have an infected tooth it can be very painful and you should seek medical attention from our endodontic Dentist experienced in root canal procedures.
Bridges & Crowns
Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two Bridges for the teeth on either side of the gap. The two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and secure the false tooth or teeth in between. These false teeth can be made from gold, alloys, composite resins, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges can be supported by both natural teeth and implants.
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth, covering the tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, or simply to improve its appearance. When the crown is adhered into place, it will fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
Periodontal Gum Disease Treatment
Periodontal Gum Disease Treatment is the thorough cleaning of plaque and calculus off of the entire tooth structure using ultrasonic and hand scaling. This plaque is the accumulation of oral bacteria and food debris that remain on the surfaces of the teeth usually near the gum tissue. Periodontal therapy removes the accumulated plaque before it causes inflammation of the gum tissue and breakdown of attached tissues to the tooth. Pockets between the tooth and soft tissue become deeper which make it more difficult to clean properly and easier for plaque to collect. Periodontal therapy treatment may be all that's needed to treat an early diagnosis of periodontal disease.
Implant Crowns
Are you missing one or more teeth and want a permanent replacement solution. If you are considering a dental implant, Family Dentistry of Belleville is your resource for implant crowns. An implant crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a dental implant or post. The implant crown replicates the original tooth in shape, size, strength, and appearance. When the crown is adhered into place, it will fully encase the entire visible portion of the dental implant. For more information on implant crowns click here.
Dentures & Partial Dentures
If you have lost some or all of your teeth due to gum disease, decay or accidental impact, dentures can dramatically improve your smile. A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Our Belleville Dentists may suggest full dentures or partial dentures, depending on how many natural teeth you have lost and the condition of your existing teeth.
